How Do Refillable Reed Diffusers Work?

How Do Refillable Reed Diffusers Work?

A reed diffuser works by drawing fragrance oil up through a set of reeds and releasing it slowly into the air. No heat, no flame, no attention required. You place it, leave it, and it does its job.

Most diffusers are designed to be thrown away when the oil runs out. The vessel goes in the bin, and you buy another one. A refillable diffuser works differently.

What makes a diffuser refillable?

A genuinely refillable diffuser is built to last as a permanent object. The vessel stays. When the fragrance oil runs out, you rinse the piece, pour in a new refill, replace the reeds, and begin again.

At Malmö Home, the Dröm Reed Diffuser is made by hand in the UK from a stone-effect material. It is designed to hold its place in a room the way a well-chosen object does. The scent is secondary. The piece is the point.

How long does a refillable diffuser last?

Each 250ml bottle of fragrance oil lasts at least six months. Turn the reeds every couple of days to refresh the scent. When the oil is gone, a diffuser refill is all you need to start again.

A few things worth knowing

Place your diffuser on a stable surface away from direct sunlight. Keep it away from children and pets. Wipe any spill immediately and wash your hands after handling the reeds.
